Mō tēnei tūranga | About this role
The Principal Adviser leads the provision of specialised work programmes across a range of programmes and services that support the funding of Early Childhood Educational services. They will support the Manager to lead the team, monitor performance and effectively ensure delivery of the teamwork programme.
They will champion process improvement for the operational funding team and support implementation of projects/programmes into the normal operating processes of the team.
The salary band for this role is $110,923 to $135,573 depending on skills and experience.

Mōhou ake | About you
We are looking for someone who can work collaboratively, lead, contribute and champion the business processes for funding of Early Learning services and lead the implementation of changes resulting from programme initiatives.
The Principal Adviser will be responsible for providing quality advice, analysis, information, coordination, and support of funding related matters to ensure ECE services receive the funding that are entitled to and the Crown's financial interests in the ECE sector are protected.

- Experience leading operational teams to deliver a busy and wide-ranging work programme
- Experience working within the education sector and/or other government funding settings
- Strong communication skills
- Great analytical skills to support effective planning and decision-making.

Mātau rōpū ake | About our group and team
Te Mahau | Te Pae Aronui (Operations and Integration) is the key interface between the Ministry and early learning providers, kōhanga reo, schools and kura.
The Early Learning Operations and Funding group is an important part of Te Pae Aronui. The group is responsible for the operational funding, operational policy, regulation and planning and provider assurance for all aspects of early childhood education.
The ECE Operational Funding Team within the Ministry of Education manages the delivery of operational funding to over 5,000 ECE services, kōhanga reo and playgroups in New Zealand as well as providing high quality advice and support for Ministers and sector stakeholders.
The ECE operational Funding team is involved in several key work programmes that will impact the way we work going forward, including the review of the funding system and ECE equity index.
