MfE's Policy Implementation and Delivery (PID) rōpū has a stewardship role in enabling environmental policy intention into positive reality. PID leads the planning and management of policy implementation, bringing together integrated partnerships iwi/Māori, partner agencies, local government, councils, industry and the scientific community to achieve collaborative, transformational delivery of environmental reforms.
Within PID, our Resource Management (RM) Systems team are calling out to resource management professionals who are passionate about te taiao and who want to play a vital role in the effective and efficient operation of the resource management system as we reform the Resource Management Act (RMA) 1991 and transition to a new legislation.

Mō tēnei tūrangi mahi | About the role
We have multiple senior opportunities open to seasoned RM professionals as well as established advisors or those with council experience looking to take that next step within a central government setting.
This is your opportunity to influence the system at a national level, working in close collaboration with our wide-ranging delivery partners across the system and on the ground, to support efficient and effective operation of the RM system in practice. You'll enjoy engaging with others and embedding te ao Māori perspectives throughout your mahi, as you work to provide a cross-link with iwi/Māori groups, councils, private organisations, and teams across MfE all contributing to a system perspective on how individual policy and implementation activities work together in practice.
As a Senior Analyst, you'll also provide cross-cutting advice on integrated resource management processes and practices at local, regional, and national levels across multiple policy areas, including freshwater, urban and climate change. Providing high-quality advice to senior leaders and Ministers on RMA national direction development and implementation will also be a core aspect of this role. Our Seniors also play a valuable role in guiding and coaching more junior colleagues in their work delivery and professional development.

We're calling out for a mix of backgrounds and skillsets within team. Let us know if you have one or more of the following in your tool kit:

- experience in RM policy, planning and/or implementation
- experience in a regional or district council
- experience in general policy or regulation development
- applied understanding of Treaty of Waitangi considerations
- experience of producing high-quality written work or advice to decision-makers and/or Ministers
- experience or the ability to work with a variety of partners or stakeholders in a delivery setting
- commitment to developing your cultural capability and capacity in te ao Māori.

Most importantly you will be passionate about looking for realistic and effective ways of achieving environmental outcomes.

Whānuitanga Utu ā-Tau | Salary range
Salary range for this role is from $101,802 up to $124,424 pa. Appointment within this range will be based on skills and experience.
