**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**

The National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Health New Zealand Te Whatu Ora, work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention. We are connected across boundaries to deliver public health services that are nationally planned, regionally delivered and locally tailored.

We have an opportunity available to join us as a **Principal Technical Specialist**.This permanent, part-time role (0.6FTE) will see you provide specialist technical and analytical support to the Clinicians Screening team and the Clinical Lead Screening. You will contribute your specialist screening knowledge and expertise to critical technical / scientific / laboratory projects and ensure the Clinicians Screening work programme is informed by relevant expert knowledge and advice.

You are someone with proven experience in providing technical and scientific advice supported with relevant professional and industry experience. Seen as a seasoned professional and known as the ‘organisational expert' for an area of domain expertise. You are committed to collaboration and are enthusiastic about continuous improvement in the pursuit of better outcomes for our communities.

**Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience**
- A relevant graduate and post-graduate qualification
- Knowledge of the Machinery of Government, risk management and understanding of the political interface of screening related issues
- Previous experience in the health sector with an advanced understanding of screening
- Demonstrated technical expertise in quantitative or qualitative data analysis and service review and manipulating and using information to identify and address issues
- Significant experience of leading projects of programmes of work
- Excellent prioritisation skills, ability to use initiative, work under pressure and meet deadlines in an ambiguous and dynamic environment
- Excellent relationship management skills - able to establish, build and maintain respectful, effective working relationships with all stakeholders to accomplish goals
