Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced nurse to provide strong leadership within our Oncology Outpatients Department. Oncology OPD provides treatment and supportive cares for our Cancer Services Outpatient population. There are three outpatient sub specialities within our outpatient service, including haematology, medical oncology and radiation oncology.

You will be required to demonstrate strong leadership skills and support the implementation of local, regional and national initiatives. The role requires the appointee to take responsibility for the safe and effective management of resources and ensure the delivery of excellent patient services.

Te Whatu Ora - Waikato's chemotherapy day stay is a busy outpatient clinic consisting of 25 chairs and caters for oncology and haematology outpatients requiring a variety of clinical procedures including chemotherapy administration, blood transfusions, and various diagnostic and palliative procedures.

The oncology clinic area involves co-ordination of nursing care for all patients attending outpatient clinics for concurrent treatment (receiving both radiotherapy and chemotherapy) and also for patients on both short
- and long-term follow up. There is a strong focus on patient education and advocacy within both areas.

Required skills & experience you will need to be consider for this role:

- Knowledge and understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi
- Minimum of 5 years post registration experience, with a Post Graduate qualification
- PDRP at proficient or above
- Chemotherapy and CVAD certification preferred
- Oncology Outpatient experience preferred - Proven leadership skills
- Demonstrates highly effective communication skills, is confident and has the ability to negotiate
- Demonstrates experience in embracing change and has led quality service improvements
- Demonstrates commitment to a customer focused service delivery
