We are seeking a registered midwife or nurse who is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). This role may be considered for an experienced midwife or nurse, working within their scope of practice, seeking to become an IBC LC, with conditions.
- You will join our Lactation team who belong to one of the largest tertiary hospitals in the southern hemisphere. Te Whatu Ora Waikato serves women requiring complex care from a range of primary birthing units within the Waikato region, and from hospitals located in the wider Midland region.

**Mōu | About you**

Skills and experience you’ll need to be considered for the role
- Qualification: Bachelor of Midwifery or equivalent/Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent
- International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) or prepared to fast track through and become an IBCLC
- Registration with Midwifery Council, or Nursing Council New Zealand and current practicing certificate without conditions.

The Lactation service is currently evolving into a community based and equity focused initiative, set to align with the National Breastfeeding strategy circa 2026. The expectation is that the fixed term Lactation consultant positions will become permanent roles in the future.
- Waikato Hospital serves women requiring complex care from a range of primary birthing units within the Waikato region, and from hospitals located in the wider Midland region. We provide maternity services for a diverse urban and rural population, compromising over five thousand births per annum.
- We pride ourselves on having a great midwifery team. Our midwifery educators and midwifery clinical coaches will support with orientation, mandatory education needs, career progression, and gaining post-graduate qualifications.
