We currently have a vacancy for a registered nurse to join our District Nursing Service in a casual capacity. An opportunity exists for a registered nurse to work as and when required within the Hamilton and Rural Family Health Team working across Hamilton and surrounding Rural bases. The successful applicant will demonstrate enthusiasm and commitment in a changing environment, a strong patient focus, well developed multi-disciplinary team and communication skills, and be committed to the delivery of quality nursing care.

**Mō tātou Ratonga | About our Service**
District nurses provide a wide range of services in their local communities, often visiting people in their home. We work closely with allied health staff such as physiotherapists and occupational therapists. Our district nurse teams work from 16 bases across Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand, Waikato.
District nurses provide a comprehensive range of quality, patient-focused, professional and holistic nursing services to patients’ through-out the life-span in the community setting. This requires a person who is adaptable, dynamic and able to work autonomously. The district nurse role includes; advanced assessment, management, support and education for wound management, compression therapy, IV management, palliative/end of life care in the rural setting, continence assessment, catheter management, ostomy management, assessment for acute personal care and home help, support with home oxygen / respiratory patients, rheumatic fever secondary prevention prophylaxis and liaison/referrals with other health professionals.

Required skills and experience:
- Current NZ Practicing Certificate
- A full driver’s licence
- A minimum of three years of experience as a registered nurse
- The ability to work effectively within a team
- Excellent assessment skills and time management
- The Ability to work autonomously It would be an advantage to have knowledge in wound management, as well as palliative care experience
