We are looking for innovative, committed, forward-thinking nurses and social workers to join the newly formed Child & Family Safety Service as a coordinator of the child abuse and neglect work stream.
The opportunity exists to make a positive difference in the lives of those affected by family violence by enabling our clinical staff to provide a helpful response.
The role provides consultation, support, advice and education to clinical staff to enable an effective and safe response to patients/clients and families impacted by child abuse and neglect. The role will partner with lead maternity carer midwife and key workers involved with the pregnant person and their /family/whānau.

Child and Family Safety Service is a newly formed team that leads Capital, Coast health response to reduce the impacts of family violence through the implementation and maintenance of the Ministry of Health (MOH) Violence Intervention Programme (VIP).
This exciting opportunity offers co-location with other family violence coordinators in Te Wao Nui - New Children’s Hospital, to create synergy when addressing all forms of family violence. The team consists of a Team Leader, dedicated administrator, clinic nurse, Gateway Coordinator and VIP coordinators focusing on either child abuse and neglect, intimate partner violence or elder abuse and neglect/vulnerable adults.

- Sound understanding of the dynamics of child abuse and neglect
- Advanced clinical experience and knowledge.
- Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement
- Experience of motivating and developing others
- Experience in collaborative inter professional and inter agency practice
- Commitment to developing and facilitating staff education sessions
- Evidence of on-going professional development
- Knowledge of and familiarity with, other health services and external partner agencies
