**Te Kowhiringa** I The Opportunity**
At Shine we provide a range of effective, practical and innovative services to help thousands of adults and children affected by family harm every year. We are looking for social workers, counsellors or other trained professionals in the health sector, preferably with some experience/ knowledge of intimate partner violence and family harm to provide advocacy and support to victims and their whanau.
The aim of Shine’s advocacy approach is to promote the safety and wellbeing of victims and their whānau. This means meeting victims’ basic needs for family, community and cultural support, financial and housing stability, food, learning and employment, access to equitable and responsive services, and safety and security. Meeting these needs is integral to victims’ long-term protection from harm and their ability to be self-determining.

To secure this role you will need to have:
- Excellent time-management skills with the ability to work effectively under pressure
- Tenacity and determination; and the ability to manage many tasks simultaneously
- Commitment to developing and maintaining networks in the community
- Knowledge of local social systems and community resources an advantage
- Skills with Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel and a willingness to develop experience in**.**:
- Social Work, counselling or other health sector qualifications relevant to the social services sector.
- A comprehensive understanding of the causes and dynamics of intimate partner violence
- Knowledge of local social systems and community resources
- Commitment to developing and maintaining strong networks in the community

**You must be registered with either social work, counselling or psychologist’s qualification and ideally working in Family Violence.**
Availability between 8am to 6 pm and rosters after hours on occasion.
