The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a keen and motivated Specialist Operator to join our Sealing team in Christchurch.

In this role you will see yourself responsible for:

- Operation of the various plant used for sealing works, such as the Bitumen Sprayer and Roller
- Execution of the sealing works, as required by the Contract Specifications applicable
- Maintaining open communication with other crew members and management
- Ensuring all plant and work sites are kept in a safe and tidy condition

Don’t know much about sealing? Sealing is the process of spraying a thin layer of bitumen onto the existing road, then spreading a layer of sealing chip on top. The sealing chip is then rolled into the bitumen, to ensure a good bond.

Flexibility for the job is essential, you must be available to work away from home and on shift as required. During the quieter season, this role will also provide you with the opportunity to work in several different departments around the business, further expanding your skillset.

What we need from you?
- Availability to work away from home and on shift
- Full Class 2 licence (Class 4 and WTR endorsements are advantageous)
- Previous bitumen and emulsion handling experience is advantageous
- Ability to problem solve in a fast-paced environment
- Be proactive around Health and Safety - it’s our #1 priority
- Good Interpersonal and communication skills
- A positive attitude and most importantly, a good sense of humour
