New Zealand Totara Learning Solutions Full time

**Reporting to: Head of Brand (NZ)**
**Location: New Zealand**

**About Totara.**
Totara is a large global talent development software business, started and still based right here in Wellington, New Zealand. We've been going strong for over a decade, and while not a household name in Aotearoa, we're pretty big in the rest of the world.

Totara makes a ‘talent experience platform', designed to empower people to do their best work. We give organisations all over the world the power to build the unique employee experiences that better develop their people - the way that's just right for them. Totara's range of products (that sit within the ‘Talent Experience Platform'), are used by over 1,400 organisations globally. Our clients include the NHS (UK), US Department of Agriculture, Pepsi, Red Hat, and Yamaha.

It's an exciting time to be in this space as the whole world experiences a shift in workplace dynamics following the impact of COVID-19. We're constantly evolving and adding new products to help develop, engage and empower workforces to adapt and thrive through continual change.

**The role.**
We're looking for a passionate and experienced communications specialist to guide a small team of writers across the Totara group. This role will report to our Head of Brand (NZ), and also support the Head of Marketing -Europe and VP of Marketing - USA. It will also involve working alongside an external agency to help set a new brand copy direction, and then follow their lead to create the copy systems, processes, guidelines and example writing to bring that life. You will become part of a highly talented team of innovative and inspiring digital product specialists globally.

**Responsibilities.**
Key projects you will work on will include:

- A refreshed website
- Copy guidelines
- e-books
- Blog articles and white papers
- Video scripts
- Internal comms
- Quality control for some of the in-market campaigns (globally).
- Alongside the brand team, you will be responsible for managing the ongoing quality and consistency of our global brand copy moving forward.

**We are looking for (experience, knowledge and qualifications)**:

- A passionate, creative and talented writer with an impressive portfolio that showcases a range of high caliber projects you've had a large part in. We want to see a range of great writing ranging from creative headlines to long form blog articles and press releases.
- At least 10 years work experience at good agencies, on significant freelance projects or in in-house roles. We would also consider editorial experience as long as you can demonstrate a flair for brand writing.
- Experience working on several good brands, ideally including some digital products.
- Web writing skills; an understanding of how people read content online, including at least a base level knowledge of how SEO (and keywords) work.
- Experience in creating brand copy guidelines.
- Experience in managing other writers and editing other peoples' work.
- An interest in growing one great brand that will be well executed over a wide range of touch-points globally.
- Absolutely perfect grammar, spelling and general command of the English language.
- Experience in the educational or learning technology space (ideally).

**As well as (professional skills and attitude)**:

- A collaborative attitude. Trusting and respecting each other is a core value for Totara. With a large and growing international team, sharing work with the rest of the team is critical to getting work out quickly and to a consistent and high standard.
- A sense of creative quality. This role will involve a lot of quality control; knowing and pushing for the standards we are aiming for (within practical constraints) will be critical. This means having ideas and thinking creatively as well as executing with immaculate English and attention to detail.
- An urge to grow. We aim to grow ourselves as we grow our business at Totara. Thinking about the best ways to write for a great brand, as well as our domain; learning about learning (and development) technology is critical.
- Thinking about the end user and how the product impacts their world is important. We're here to make a positive impact and we're looking for people to join our team who also care about making a meaningful difference to peoples' lives. Understanding, empathising and constantly representing our customer will be a core part of your role.
- An appreciation for deadlines. While we endeavour to plan carefully there will always be crunch-points, we're looking for a writer who can work quickly when needed and knows how to make good decisions under pressure.

This role is full time, ideally based in our office in central Wellington but we're open to you being based in other NZ locations. There is also the option for flexible hours and of course remote work from home.
