Mō te tūranga | About the Role
Responsible for the technical leadership of standards, processes and choices in Mobile, also responsible for contributions to a squad.
In this key role in Digital, you will provide technical leadership and expertise across our group and the Center of Excellence (CoE), ensuring contributors have the skills, tools and understanding required to:
- Build in line with modern best practices-
- Comply with our standards and policies-
- Ensure we do not backslide into technical debtTo ensure your skills stay sharp, you will also spend time in various squads as directed by the business.
A few responsibilities in your new position include.- Provide expert technical direction across the group Jetpack Compose/SwiftUI.-
- Challenge teams to solve problems in a simple and efficient manner as much as possible while achieving our quality and compliance requirements.-
- Drive improvement, enhancement and upgrade by looking for opportunities within our groups activities.-
- Assist where necessary with the diagnosis and root-cause analysis of complex problems by employing a strong eye for detail and troubleshooting skills-
- Be interested in the bigger picture and be curious as to how the technical function fits into the business process.-
- Identify and lead opportunities to improve our craft, practices, and tools, striving for consistency and reuse where possible, working in alignment with CoE Software Engineering-
- Develop Application/System roadmap, working with architects and other relevant stakeholders, aligning to organisational technology strategy-
- Propose and potentially perform feasibility studies to validate capability and functionality-
- Identify technical debt and work with the relevant delivery owner to prioritize them, and help the squad deliver-
- Lead or co-lead spikes and experiments aimed at raising the bar.-
- Provide leadership and clarity of process across our group.-
- Provide feedback to management on challenges to help ensure the right people are performing the right roles. Make suggestions for improvements.-
- Coaches and develops team members to deliver to Digital Strategy.-
- Develop relationships with other Craft Leads and specialists in the broader team to gain insights and share experiences.-
- Develop accountable Technology frameworks and processes that relate to supporting culture and people development. Focus on improving internal customer satisfaction via continuous improvement of accountable framework and processes.-
- Coaching/mentoring teams on process adoption and feeding back ongoing improvements.Receive delegated ownership of elements of our Engineering Framework.Nā tāu rourou | What will you bring?- Significant experience operating as a Senior or Principal Engineer.-
- Able to speak about experience within the IT Industry, specialising in one or more of Java, React, Mobile development.-
- Able to speak about experience leading small teams, ideally as a line manager.-
