**An exciting opportunity for fixed term educators for Allied Health professions has been made available for the northern region. These roles will be responsible for developing and overseeing education and coaching within adult critical care services across the region to provide “on the job training”, support and coaching for the Allied Health workforce. This initiative aims to support and increase the Allied Health workforce within the adult critical care setting.**:
**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**
Funding has been made available for the Allied Health workforce to expand critical care capacity and capability across the northern region. The workforce development is in response to the high demand for specialty resourcing requirements within our critical care services. Allied Health have signaled the need for educators and coaches to provide ongoing education and upskilling of key members of the workforce to ensure resilience and retention of staff.

Embedded throughout the critical care workforce development is the need to grow and develop a workforce that reflects the community we serve to ensure we improve the health of Māori and Pacific people, whilst ensuring we achieve equitable outcomes for our communities. Māori and Pacific Allied Health practitioners who work within the critical care setting will be prioritised for this funding as a commitment to grow the diversity of the workforce.

**Ko te kaupapa | About the role**
The educator roles will be profession specific with the allocation of a Principle Educator within the group to support the coordination and collaboration across the interdisciplinary team, critical care units and region. As these roles will work across the Northern Region, in the adult critical care service, the ability to travel between sites is essential. There is some potential for flexibility in the FTE outlined below.

The following roles are Fixed Term until 30 June 2024:

- Physiotherapy 2.0 FTE
- Speech-Language Therapy 0.5 FTE
- Dietetics 0.5 FTE
- Pharmacy 0.5 FTE

The following roles are Fixed Term for the dates indicated below:

- Social Work 0.5 FTE - until 31 Dec 2023
- Occupational Therapy 0.5 FTE - 01 Jan 2024 - 30 June 2024

**Role responsibility**
**The role responsibilities are outlined in the attached position description; queries are welcomed and can be directed to the contacts below. In addition to these, the Principle Educator will also be responsible for the following**:

- Provide regional oversight to the Northern Region Critical Care Allied Health Educators
- Lead and coordinate a collaborative regional approach
- Support collation of required Manatū Hauora (Ministry of Health) reporting
- Report to the Northern Region Critical Care Allied Health Group (NRCCAHG)
- Develop and enhance collaboration with Critical Care Nurse Educators
- Collaborate with stakeholders to support the retention of Māori and Pacific AHST workforce

**Nga Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills**
Registered Allied Health Professional with preferably five (5) years clinical experience within critical care
- Current annual practicing certificate (APC)
- Demonstrated clinical and cultural competence
- Advanced theoretical and practical knowledge base of critical care patient pathway
- Holds advanced life support qualification
- Contribute to clinical education and practice development
- Adult learning training
- Experience using coaching skills
- Full clean Drivers Licence
