Our client launched a tech-based power company to disrupt Aotearoa’s outdated, self-serving industry. They were the first energy retailer to offer Kiwis a way to purchase cheaper power directly off the wholesale electricity market.

The purpose of this role is to design digital customer experiences and ensure ongoing design and development excellence for their clients.

**Specific Responsibilities**

**Development**
- Focus on delivering, with support, a brilliant digital customer experience
- Prototype rapidly and appropriately to communicate concepts and potential solutions
- Collaborate across teams within the company to determine the right opportunities for development
- Ensure design outputs meet agreed product and business criteria in order to create solutions that deliver value, and ROI.
- Coordinate with the rest of the business, working across different layers of the infrastructure and collaborate to ensure consistency, and that work is compatible and does not duplicate other work.
- Identify user experience deficiencies and bugs, and devise solutions to these problems.
- Escalate any technical issues as necessary to the appropriate team members: e.g. the design lead.

**Continuous Improvement**
- Work creatively and collaboratively with wider team to assist the company to come up with new solutions for the needs of the business
- Assist other members of the business with continuous improvement in the design process, design thinking, and user-centred practices.
- Involvement in recruitment and hiring/involvement in professional development processes within the tech team
- Organising events that contribute to our team culture (e.g. hack days, tech talks)

**Skills & Experiences**
- Experience in a B2C product design role
- Knowledge of web and mobile UX best practice
- Understanding of accessibility needs
- Research

Identify market and customer needs - User testing and interviews
- Ideation and iteration

Flow mapping

Wireframing
- Up-to-date knowledge of design software

Sketch (or equivalent)

Adobe suite (desirable)
- Prototyping knowledge

Lo-fidelity paper prototypes

Digital tools (InVision or similar, ability to code a front-end prototype desirable)
- Ability to work alongside developers throughout the process
- Integrity and high professional standards
