Wellington City, New Zealand McLaren Associates Full time

The work you do will save lives
- A culture of high trust and enablement; busy and varied role
- Based in Wellington CBD, just off Lambton Quay
- NZ Mountain Safety Council (MSC) is a national organisation that has been working for more than 50 years with a mandate to encourage safe participation in land-based outdoor activities. They do this through the development and promotion of safety messaging, by identifying and responding to insights provided by the ongoing collection and analysis of data, and by building partnerships with relevant organisations._

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you’ll be responsible for planning, creating and delivering written content across a range of communications channels. You’ll ensure the content resonates with your target audience, which will vary depending on the situation, but will include members of the public who recreate in the outdoors, journalists and producers, communications and marketing staff from partner and council member organisations and the MSC Board.

Working closely with two other Communications Advisors (social media and digital/design specialists), you’ll play a critical role in designing and delivering effective public behaviour change campaigns, MSC brand awareness, and leading the continuous flow of high-quality story content.

MSC has a very strong and respected voice in the media; this is your chance to continue the momentum to influence and make a real difference by leading the development of effective media releases and media engagement.

You’ll enjoy plenty of breadth and variety, as well as the opportunity to work with a highly skilled, supportive and collaborative team within a high-trust and agile environment where your ideas are encouraged and respected.

This is a full-time permanent position, based on Brandon Street in the Wellington CBD. Start and finish times are flexible and MSC offer working from home options.

- Proven ability to deliver high-quality results and projects, sometimes to tight timeframes
- A confident communicator and writer with well-developed written and oral communication skills
- Project management skills
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to build effective working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to self-manage, and to prioritise and manage time effectively
- A sense of humour and positive, collegial attitude
- A sound knowledge of MS Office
