At Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga | Ministry of Education, we work to provide services and support nationally, regionally and locally to the education sector, and in some cases, directly to ākonga and whānau.
We help shape the policies, settings and performance of the education system for early learning, schooling and tertiary. We do this by building relationships and genuinely understanding the needs of those who receive our services.

**Mō tēnei tūranga | About this role**:
The Advisor, Organisational Communications is an important role within the Organisational Communications team, which sits in the Ministry's Communications, Engagement and Ministerials group.
The Advisor - Organisational Communications supports the planning and implementation of internal communications that tell our organisation's story to our staff, painting a coherent picture of the Ministry, its Purpose, and Strategic Priorities, and ensuring that messages and style are consistent and timely between projects. This includes contributing to strategic initiatives on leadership, engagement, culture, change communications, and events, enabling Te Tāhuhu staff to provide excellent and equitable outcomes to New Zealanders.

**Mōhou ake | About you**:
You will be a team player who thrives on working at pace, managing deadlines and demonstrates excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Māori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Māori. You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public sector.
Ideally you will also have the following experience and capabilities:
- Sound experience delivering communications, ideally across a large organisation
- Excellent relationship management skills across a range of diverse audiences
- Effective oral and written communications, including the ability to present complex issues clearly and concisely
- Technically savvy - comfortable with working with multimedia content, including uploading to websites.
- Problem solving skills - the ability to use judgement and make things work on the ground
- Ability to organise own work plan and work in a relatively autonomous environment
- Experience in working within and across teams
- Ability to deliver to tight timeframes
- Understanding of the machinery of government
- The ability to operate in a complex environment
- The ability to contribute to a positive team culture
- The ability to build client satisfaction, identifying critical communications issues, and delivering relevant services
- Experience with administrative tasks (i.e. booking travel, raising purchase orders)
