An excellent opportunity for an experienced senior Clinical Psychologist to join a dynamic, innovative and friendly team within an established Elderly Mental Health Service. The team is multidisciplinary and composed of Nurses, Case Manager, Occupational Therapists, Social Workers and Psychiatrists working in community and in patient services.
This position includes in-depth orientation, preceptorship and opportunities for ongoing education and professional development.
The focus of the role is on both neuropsychological assessment and therapeutic intervention for older people presenting with mental health difficulties and/or age-related neurological disorder. This role will include neuropsychological assessment and designing psychological interventions for inpatients presenting with complex problems.
The psychologist will also provide neuropsychological assessment to the Memory Service which is facilitated under the MHSOP umbrella.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- You will work as a member of the Mental Health & Addiction Services to provide an effective assessment and treatment service to the target populations within existing legal frameworks.
- Maintain skill-diversity by adhering to training requirements and taking opportunities to collaborate with various roles within the service.
- You will contribute to, and be guided by national strategic service directives such as the New Zealand Health Strategy. National Mental Health Sector Standards, Guidelines for Specialist Health Services for Older People, Health of Older People Strategy, Recovery and Strengths models, as well as local strategic directions outlined within policy and protocol.
- You will provide appropriate, effective, objective and clear psychological formulations based on thorough assessment;
- Use an appropriate wide range of assessment tools including psychometric tests
- Therapeutic interventions to be formulated in consultation with the client and when appropriate, with the family
- Provide a range of therapeutic interventions using individual, family and group techniques;
- Maintain clear and objective documentation of client contacts, assessments, interventions and treatment plans
**Requirements: Essential**
- A Masters Degree in Psychology
- Registered as a Psychologist in New Zealand with current practising certificate
- New Zealand Postgraduate clinical diploma or overseas equivalent
- Neuropsychological Assessment
- Demonstrated clinical competence
- Current clean motor vehicle driver’s licence
- Minimum three years post graduate clinical experience in Mental Health
