- Permanent full-time opportunity
- MICAMHS Child Team

**About the Role**
The MICAMHS Child Team in Tauranga is searching for a Clinical Psychologist who has experience and skills working with children between the ages of 0-12 years and their whānau. This is a permanent, full-time position in the MICAMHS Child Team, based at Te Waka Aorangi Child Wellness Centre at Tauranga Hospital.

You will be part of our multi-disciplinary team, working in collaboration with other psychologists, nurses, social workers, occupational therapists, and psychiatrists to support children and their whānau. Your role will involve psychological assessment, formulation, and therapeutic intervention for children in the service.

Client presentations include children experiencing difficulties and distress associated with trauma, attachment, family challenges, mood and anxiety disorders, obsessive compulsive and related disorders, eating difficulties including ARFID, and suicidality and self-harm. Some of these children also require specialist cognitive and neurodevelopmental assessment for potential intellectual disability, autism, and ADHD.

As part of your role, you will liaise with schools, community groups and other agencies involved with children and whānau to provide coordinated care. You will also work with Paediatrics, the Child Development Service, and the Child Health Integrated Response Pathway team who are co-located in the building to support children who require a multi-service approach. You will also have the opportunity to work alongside the Perinatal and Infant Mental Health Service and the Incredible Years Specialist Service as parts of the broader MICAMHS service also located at Te Waka Aorangi.

The Child Team is committed to evidence-based practice in assessment, formulation, and therapeutic intervention for children and their whānau, as well as providing the necessary ongoing training and supervision to support this. On joining the team, you will also be part of the broader psychology community at Tauranga and Whakatane Hospitals, offering monthly psychology journal clubs, supervision, collegial support, and ongoing professional development.

**About You**

To be successful in this role you will:

- Be a New Zealand Registered Clinical Psychologist.
- Have postgraduate training in clinical psychology and other relevant postgraduate training.
- Have experience in the psychological assessment of children with a range of mental health presentations alongside experiences of trauma, attachment difficulties, and neurodevelopmental conditions.

- Demonstrate competence in trauma-informed practice.
- Demonstrate competence in working with neurodivergence.
- Demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to upholding Te Tiriti o Waitangi in your practice.
