- lead complex assurance and audit assignments, including responsive reviews and provide advice that influences how the Department performs and continuously improves
- coach and mentor others as an experienced assurance and audit practitioner
- work closely with leaders across the business to provide assurance and audit advice and services to contribute to the maturity and standard of the Department's control environment and practices, the effectiveness of its risk and assurance system, and uphold integrity and accountability.

We are seeking a highly skilled assurance and audit practitioner for our Assurance and Audit team, in one of the most diverse Public Service organisations. This role supports the Manager Assurance and Audit with internal assurance and audit services and advice. While not a requirement, a Certified Internal Auditor qualification is an advantage. A good knowledge of public sector good practice guidelines and a wide range of experience is also necessary.
This is expansive role, and you will have opportunities to provide sound advice across the assurance and audit programme, coaching and mentoring other members of the team, and undertaking a variety of responsive and advisory work. In addition to delivering on our annual work programme, we are often "invited in" to a range of reviews - a good indicator of a valued audit function.
You'll be part of the Te Urungi - the Māori, Strategy and Performance Branch; a branch with a big job. Te Urungi provides direction, oversight, leadership and advice across the Department through a broad range of corporate functions including risk and assurance, strategy leadership, performance reporting, governance services, legal advice, and more. You will work in collaboration with other specialist functions in the branch to ensure the seamless experience of its services.
