- Salary: $85,537 - $101,911 Tēnei tūranga - About the Role: The Royalties Auditor is a Compliance team member position in the Energy and Resource Markets branch within the Building, Resources and Markets group. The Royalties Auditor brings broad business understanding and experience to work in partnership with the Senior and Principal Royalties Auditor.

The Royalties Auditor will be an experienced professional with the composure and confidence to engage with complex companies with Royalty liabilities that can run to the tens of millions annually, as well as interpersonal sophistication to deal sensitively with smaller domestic operators. From time to time the Royalties Auditor will be called upon to assist in other branch financial matters such, as the assessment of a permit applicant’s Financial Capability, Project Economics and Commercial Dealing agreements.

- Highly developed analytical and conceptual thinking ability
- Capable of developing alternative pathways to achieving outcomes
- Able to plan and resource projects, and manage projects to a successful conclusion
- A background in internal or external audit would be advantageous, but not essential.
- Good understanding of the petroleum and minerals sector and the royalties system
- A working knowledge of the public sector and its processes, and an ability to constantly extend their range of knowledge
- Sound relationship management skills, excellent collaboration, communication and facilitation skills, a strong customer focus
- Excellent organisational ability, proven ability to meet milestones and delivery dates; sound motivational skills; an ability to deliver a high standard of service under tight and competing deadlines
- Ability to synthesise policy, technical and marketing issues and present them in with simplicity and clarity that can be understood by a range of audiences
- Desire to work on developing commercial opportunities within political and regulatory constraints
- Degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent experience
