Hamilton, New Zealand Waikato Regional Council Full time

**About us**:
We want more good people to come and do great things with us.

We love where we live. That’s why we work so hard to look after our region and the people who live and work in the Waikato region.

Customers sit at the heart of everything we do, and all staff have an important role to play in the delivery of exceptional customer service.

Our work is as diverse as the region we care for; from the tip of the Coromandel Peninsula to the slopes of Ruapehu. We’ve got ambitious goals and there are some tricky issues, but that’s what makes it so interesting.

Looking for flexible ways of working options, at Waikato Regional Council we are committed to working more creatively to ‘get work done’ in a way that is of mutual benefit to you, the organisation and our communities.

**About you**:
We're looking for someone who lives and breathes social media, with an excellent understanding of the various digital platforms and the latest trends, as well as the strategic thinking to achieve agreed outcomes.

You’ll be technically savvy, with a high attention to detail and the creative flair to generate fresh ideas for bold and engaging social media content and campaigns that connect us with people in our rohe.

Working closely with others in the Communications and Marketing section, as well as people right across our organisation, you’ll be on the constant lookout for new content that helps to tell Waikato Regional Council’s story.

**Qualifications**:
Essential:

- Diploma level qualification in digital marketing or a related discipline.

Desired:

- An undergraduate degree in communications majoring in digital marketing or a related discipline.

**Experience**:

- A minimum of 3 years’ experience managing social platforms.
- A proven ability to develop strategy and create engaging content.

**About the role**:
You will be responsible for:

- Working with the Communications and Marketing section leadership team to develop and execute a social media plan - aligned with the section’s overarching strategic plan - using analytics to drive action, evaluate effectiveness and report performance
- Defining the KPIs that will be used to measure our online presence and regularly report performance
- Working with external agencies and communications advisors to prepare end of campaign reports
- Having an awareness of media issues and projects that may impact social media
- Working with the designers to develop visuals and creative assets
- Monitoring activity across social platforms, ensuring questions and comments, especially the negative ones, are responded to and the conversation closed off
- Ensuring robust policies and guidelines for the use of social media channels are in place.
