Auckland City, New Zealand Te Whatu Ora – Health New Zealand Waitematā Full time

**Consumer Liaison - CADS** **Medically Managed Withdrawal Services (In-patient and Community & Home Detox)**
- **Permanent Part-time**:

- **60 hours per fortnight (0.75 FTE)**

Community Alcohol and Drug Services (CADS) Auckland is looking for a dynamic Consumer Liaison to join our Medically Managed Withdrawal Services, in-patient (MMWS) at our premises at HomeGround, the Auckland City Mission building in Hobson St, Auckland central and our Community & Home Detox based in Point Chevalier.

**He kōrero mō mātou | About us**

CADS is the largest Alcohol and other Drugs (AOD) service in New Zealand working with over 13,000 people each year. We provide free community and inpatient AOD treatment from a number of locations across Auckland and are committed to empowering the community to discover healthier use of substances (harm minimisation) through the promotion of recovery and wellbeing. Our medically managed withdrawal services are for people who have a physical dependence on alcohol and other drugs (e.g. methamphetamines, benzos, opiates) and who require short-term medical support to withdraw from or reduce their use or to stabilise on medications.

**He kōrero mō te tūranga | The role**

Join a team committed to ensuring CADS responds to the needs of people using CADS services. There is nothing ordinary about this job. You can go home at the end of the day feeling the satisfaction of doing something that really counts

The CADS Counselling Service Consumer Liaison promotes and supports meaningful consumer participation by:

- Liaising with and co-ordinating consumer input from people using the services
- Presenting consumer perspectives to CADS leadership, clinical governance and other forums to ensure our services are responsive to the needs of people using their services
- Being part of a consumer team that assists and supports the Consumer Advisor in service planning, implementation and evaluation.

**He kōrero mōu | About you**

The role requires someone with their own personal lived experience of using alcohol and other drug services who is some way into their recovery (which can be assisted by medication). Ideally someone who has undertaken a medically managed withdrawal though this is not essential. You will also have:

- A willingness to develop a partnership approach between consumers and the medically managed withdrawal services
- A focus on solutions, looking at how systems can work best for our clients
- A commitment to social justice, harm reduction, and client-centred treatment and recovery
- Resilience having worked through life’s challenges and you use the skills and supports you have gained in recovery
- A good sense of humour and the ability to remain calm under pressure
- An established personal support system
- Cultural competence with a commitment to the Treaty of Waitangi
- Be able to legally drive in New Zealand without restriction

**Professional skills**
- Ability to work independently and as part of teams including nurses and doctors
- Good time management

**Ko tā mātou mahi | What we offer**
- Working with great teams in a regional service in the country’s largest healthcare provider provides more opportunities for professional development
- 10 days sick leave and 4 weeks annual leave (pro rata)
- Competitive salary and paid professional registration as per our collective agreement
- Regular supervision, support and training

**Our Values**

At Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora Waitematā we are driven by our values “everyone matters,” “with compassion,” “connected” and “better, best, brilliant.” We are committed to living up to these values to give you the right balance of autonomy, support, development, encouragement and aroha.

**Me pēhea te tono mai | How to apply**

For further information contact Sheridan Pooley, CADS Consumer Advisor, on 09 815 5830 or 021 760 319. For recruitment inquiries please contact Katherine Shinhama, Recruitment Consultant, on 09 442 7248.
