National Trainer - Family Violence position
Te whiwhinga mahi/The Opportunity
This recruitment is building on from the establishment of a training team to build family violence and sexual violence workforce and organisational capability.
This position will join the current training team focused on building workforce and organisational capability in understanding and responding safely, effectively, and consistently to family violence, and holding people who use violence accountable.
The foundation of the National Trainer role is built on 5 principles created during formulation of the workforce and organisational capability frameworks.
This role will bring these principles to life through implementation and practice as demonstrated by the examples below:
- Kotahitanga - Relationships and Inclusion - Drive change to amplify awareness and responsiveness to the needs of under-served communities and to prioritise equity. This includes in delivery of training and making connections between practice and needs. Ensuring training incorporates information about unique contexts and dynamics of violence experienced by tangata whenua and diverse communities.
- Kaitiakitanga - Protection and Accountability - Demonstrate an expert level of knowledge concerning the dynamics of family violence and/or sexual violence, and risk and protective factors. Focus on workforce capability building regarding users of violence including organisational level interventions to hold them accountable, how others can hold them accountable and how the system can hold them accountable. Develop safety processes for delivery of training.
- Mahi Tahi - Collaboration and Advocacy - Understand the training landscape by undertaking a training needs analysis across government/statutory agencies, sector organisations, hāpori, and iwi Māori. Ensure the training does not duplicate but instead compliments existing training and training roles, links to organisations and is collaborative.
- Koi Mahi - Innovation and Learning - Partner with government and sector agencies to compliment training programmes that already exist to achieve alignment with Te Aorerekura, and workforce and organisational capability frameworks and tools. Contribute to feedback loops spanning ‘grass-roots', community, regional and national level involvement, helping to share their insights and learnings and influence change. Implement the principles in professional practice and demonstrate reflective practice and continuous self-development.
