**National Trainer - Family Violence position**
**Te whiwhinga mahi/The Opportunity**
This recruitment is building on from the establishment of a training team to build family violence and sexual violence workforce and organisational capability.
This position will join the current training team focused on building workforce and organisational capability in understanding and responding safely, effectively, and consistently to family violence, and holding people who use violence accountable.
The foundation of the National Trainer role is built on 5 principles created during formulation of the workforce and organisational capability frameworks.
This role will bring these principles to life through implementation and practice as demonstrated by the examples below:
- **Kotahitanga - Relationships and Inclusion - **Drive change to amplify awareness and responsiveness to the needs of under-served communities and to prioritise equity. This includes in delivery of training and making connections between practice and needs. Ensuring training incorporates information about unique contexts and dynamics of violence experienced by tangata whenua and diverse communities.
- **Kaitiakitanga - Protection and Accountability - **Demonstrate an expert level of knowledge concerning the dynamics of family violence and/or sexual violence, and risk and protective factors. Focus on workforce capability building regarding users of violence including organisational level interventions to hold them accountable, how others can hold them accountable and how the system can hold them accountable. Develop safety processes for delivery of training.
- **Mahi Tahi - Collaboration and Advocacy - **Understand the training landscape by undertaking a training needs analysis across government/statutory agencies, sector organisations, hāpori, and iwi Māori. Ensure the training does not duplicate but instead compliments existing training and training roles, links to organisations and is collaborative.
- **Koi Mahi - Innovation and Learning - **Partner with government and sector agencies to compliment training programmes that already exist to achieve alignment with Te Aorerekura, and workforce and organisational capability frameworks and tools. Contribute to feedback loops spanning ‘grass-roots', community, regional and national level involvement, helping to share their insights and learnings and influence change. Implement the principles in professional practice and demonstrate reflective practice and continuous self-development.
**He pūkenga tou/Skills and Experience**
Relevant tertiary qualification and/or equivalent knowledge, skills, and experience in training within FV and/or SV in the workforce and organisations.
You will also:
- Be able to lead and actively support others to participate in continuous education/learning opportunities including reflective practice.
- Have extensive experience and credibility in delivery of training and facilitation of groups
- Demonstrates ability to:
- Develop and update practice to align with known and emerging relevant research and evidence, including trauma
- and violence-informed responses, and FV and SV workforce capability.
- Actively develops understanding and learning about te ao Māori and tangata whenua experiences of oppression and violence from the acts of colonisation.
- Builds and maintains cultural partnerships with mana whenua/Iwi Māori and/or kaupapa Māori services to ensure the restoration of mana and reflects indigenous forms of knowledge that are validating in practice.
- Develops capabilities and knowledge to enhance responsiveness to the diversity of people's experiences and needs.
- Understands how structural inequality (eg., sexism, racism, classism, heterosexist, transphobia, intersex phobia, xenophobia, ableism), forms of power (eg., historical privilege) and oppression (i.e., colonisation) intersect and how they interact with each other.
- Communicates effectively and respectfully honouring cultural knowledges and practices; and draws upon existing cultural knowledge and frameworks to ensure inclusive training packages.
- Understands the dynamics, causes and drivers of family violence and sexual violence, and understands how to achieve safety and well-being including through whānau centred approaches, gender-based analysis and for children and young people.
- Able to implement into practice an understanding of the impacts of trauma and violence including in own responses.
- Builds partnerships with people from other agencies and organisations to enhance responses and provide support.
- Able to present complex information in ways that are fit for purpose for diverse audiences.
- Able to provide an environment in which the skill and competency of people from all communities including tangata whenua, Pacific peoples, disabled and Deaf people, older people, ethnic communities, and LGBTQIA+ communities are fostered.
