Our client is a New Zealand leader that manufactures and supplies a wide range of food and beverage products, to support the food manufacturing and grocery industries of New Zealand.

On their behalf, we are seeking the services of an **experienced Plant Manager,** to join their South Auckland based team and be responsible for leading the Manufacturing, Operations and Warehousing teams, to achieve quality, efficiency, cost, and delivery targets.

We are looking for a natural leader, who will build a high performing team culture, encourage accountability, and ensure high standards are met across health and safety, food safety, quality, engagement, asset management, continuous improvement, sustainability, and customer service.

They will implement the strategic plan, taking overall responsibility for the performance of the plant, developing processes and providing the leadership that will inspire the team to deliver a world class, manufacturing performance.

**The Role**:

- Plans and directs day-to-day activities, including production schedules, to ensure operations meet quality and delivery objectives.
- Implements the sites strategic plan, providing the team with a clear sense of direction and focus.
- Facilitates the company continuous improvement practises.
- Ensures practices are aligned to achieve business objectives, with specific regard to plant utilisation, process improvement, cost containment, labour, and resource limitations.
- Coaches and guides the team. Identifies skill gaps or potential performance issues and ensures corrective actions are put in place.
- Provides the team opportunities for upskilling and career progression, building succession plans and developing internal talent for future roles.
- Develops and administers the manufacturing budget; examines variances and exercises financial control to ensure manufacturing activities are cost efficient.
- Develops operational systems to ensure cost effective production, within quality specifications.
- Reviews developments in manufacturing operations and makes recommendations for future expenditure.
- Reviews and analyses data, reports on Manufacturing Costs, Production efficiency, Delivery and Inventory performance.
- Prepares management reporting and proactively adds value to management meetings.
- Provides guidance and the necessary resources, procedures, training, and controls to ensure adherence to food safety and quality standards in terms of GMP and HACCP.
- Establishes and maintains reporting mechanisms, which provide analysis of Quality Performance.
- Establishes an environment for harmonious industrial relations, safe work practices and compliance with relevant legislation for the site.
- Engages with a wide range of key stakeholders, to strengthen relationships across the business.
- **Is Accountable** Becomes a valued and contributing member of the senior leadership team.

**About You**:

- A natural leader, experienced in developing, inspiring, and mentoring successful teams. (Min 10 years of relevant management experience).
- Experience from a food, beverage, raw ingredients, or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
- Focuses on cultivating a culture of high achievement and accountability.
- Builds trust and respect within the team. **Is present**. Understands them. Motivates and challenges them.
- Experience in developing and communicating business plans and goals to ensure continuous improvement.
- Knowledge of GMP, HACCP and WHS practices is essential.
- Knowledge of productivity, demand, inventory, and stewardship processes to achieve best practice.
- Knowledge of business and management principles (budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation and HR)
- Strong communication skills. Ability to influence and engage with key stakeholders at all levels.
- A strategic thinker, with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Ability to analyse information and identify areas that need attention.
- Problem solving abilities, good organisational and prioritisation skills. Always follows-up.
- Excellent facilitation, project management and negotiation skills
- Well-developed MS Office skills. Experience using SAP is preferred.
