Auckland Council's Emergency Management team is seeking a dedicated individual to join us as a full-time Principal Advisor Strategy. This role, reporting directly to the Head of Capability & Strategy, offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact across Tamaki Makaurau.

As a Principal Advisor Strategy, you will be instrumental in embedding resilience and sustainability principles into our strategies, business, and programme planning. Working closely with the General Manager and leadership team, you'll contribute to and support the direction of the department, aligning it with Auckland Council's objectives, Civil Defence Emergency Management Strategies, and global best practices.

You could expect to work on:

- Implementing various response plans such as the Civil Defence Emergency Management Group Plan
- Engaging and enabling communities, both internally and externally
- Collaborating effectively across multi-agency CDEM models to elevate Auckland Emergency Management's profile.

This opportunity is ideal for a seasoned professional with a strong background in developing and implementing strategic framework and has a demonstrated track record of successfully delivering projects from their initial stages through to completion.

To be successful you will have solid leadership experience in complex multi-disciplinary environments and can work in high-pressure situations. Your stakeholder management will span a wide spectrum, including central and local government, Local Government Boards, and community organizations.

Your skill set will feature the ability to achieve challenging outcomes, demonstrate competent decision-making, and exercise sound judgement in both political and culturally diverse environments. As a leader, you will be adept at cultivating positive and harmonious relationships, with trust and credibility at the core.

We are specifically looking for:

- Tertiary degree qualification in a relevant discipline or equivalent relevant industry experience
- A minimum of 10 years experience tackling complex social challenges in demanding environments.
- Sound knowledge & experience working in CDEM responses would be an advantage
