This is a full-time, permanent position of 40 hours per week based at our Rongotai depot.
The remuneration range for this role is $78,897 to $111,383 (including KiwiSaver). We will be appointing within the range of $78,897 to $100,000 depending on skills and experience.
The opportunity
You'll lead a team of Drainage crews who are the first point of contact on the ground, covering both reactive and planned maintenance works to better our community and water network.
Your role is to ensure the network is maintained in accordance with best practice and to set service delivery standards as you oversee its operation.
Every day is different and a chance to deliver quality outcomes where you will take a lead on:

- managing and overseeing resources, HSQE, budget and planned jobs
- supervision of contractors
- responsiveness to high priority jobs
- training, mentoring and building confidence across the team
- overall responsibility for delegating and delivering quality work
- getting involved in smaller three waters projects.

About you
Your success will come from your ability to build a wide range of relationships, maintain a manageable workload for the team and foster a culture that puts doing the right thing at the forefront.

**To be successful in this role you will bring**:

- experience in operations of drainage systems with the ability to work in a reactive environment
- new Zealand Certificate in Infrastructure Works (Pipeline Construction and Maintenance) (Level 4) with strands in Drinking Water or Stormwater/Wastewater OR an equivalent NZQA Level 4 qualification
- full NZ class 1 licence
- the ability to communicate and build strong relationships with stakeholders
- strong leadership, coaching and mentoring skills
- a collaborative mindset - you understand what it takes to bring people together to achieve results.

About us
Wellington Water is the Wellington region's professional water services provider. We are 100 per cent council owned and funded by Wellington City, Hutt City, Porirua City, and Upper Hutt City councils, Greater Wellington Regional Council and South Wairarapa District Council. 
Our councils own the water infrastructure in the region, and they task us to manage the infrastructure and deliver water services to their communities. 
Our job is to provide safe and healthy drinking water, collect and treat wastewater, and ensure the stormwater network is well managed. We do this on behalf of our council owners.
