The opportunity
We have an excellent opportunity for a Team Leader/Foreperson to lead our drainage crew in Wellington. Using your sound technical knowledge, you'll oversee the smooth operation of the drainage network including several smaller three waters drainage projects. In a dynamic environment where no two days are the same, you'll rise to the challenge of managing the operation of the network, including resources, HSQE, budget, planned jobs, supervision of contractors and responsiveness to high priority jobs.
You'll be leading a team of skilled individuals where you'll successfully train, mentor and build confidence, while holding overall responsibility for delegating and delivering quality work. Your success will come from your ability to build a wide range of relationships, maintain a manageable workload for the team and foster a culture that puts doing the right thing at the forefront.
About you

**To be successful in this role you will bring the following**:

- Experience in operations of drainage systems, coupled with the ability to work in a reactive environment
- Knowledge of plant and equipment capabilities with cost control experience
- New Zealand Certificate in Infrastructure Works (Pipeline Construction and Maintenance) (Level 4) with strands in Drinking Water or Stormwater /Wastewater
- Full NZ class 1 licence
- Excellent communication skills in both written and verbal forms as you will be engaging with a range of internal and external audiences
- Strong leadership, coaching and mentoring skills that leads to strengthened capability in both what staff do and how they do it
- A collaborative mindset - you will understand what it takes to bring people together to achieve results
- Holding an appropriate level 5 qualification or actively working towards one is desirable

About us
Wellington Water is the Wellington region's professional water services provider. We are 100 per cent council owned and funded by Wellington City, Hutt City, Porirua City, and Upper Hutt City councils, Greater Wellington Regional Council and South Wairarapa District Council. 
Our councils own the water infrastructure in the region, and they task us to manage the infrastructure and deliver water services to their communities.
