At Manatū Hauora - Ministry of Health we are the kaitiaki of the health system, providing leadership and driving strategy and performance. We regulate the health sector and are the primary source of advice on health matters.
These 5x Senior Policy Analyst roles sit within our Strategy, Policy and Legislation directorate which is responsible for providing high quality policy advice to the Ministers and government of the day. We inform the decisions made on the health portfolio and legislative programme and are currently recruiting for the below teams:

- System Enablers in the Health System Settings Group - leads a diverse systems-focussed work programme that includes understanding digital policy opportunities in healthcare and strategic policy relating to medicines and new technologies.
- Workforce Policy and Strategy in the Health System Settings Group - ensures New Zealand has a sustainable, representative and responsive health workforce that can meet the future needs of people and whanau
- Priority Projects - leads work to develop new legislation for medicines, medical devices and natural health products, including the establishment of a new regulator and regulatory regime.
- Health of Disabled People Policy team in the Primary, Family & Community Health Policy Group - provides strategic direction and quality policy advice to improve health outcomes for disabled people. Working across the Ministry and other government agencies to deliver an ambitious work programme to implement the Health of Disabled People Strategy.

Ko ake mahi - What you'll do
The Senior Policy Analyst leads and contributes to the development and delivery of quality policy advice to improve health outcomes for New Zealanders within a complex and challenging policy space.
Ko pūkenga - What you'll bring
- Tertiary qualification in a health or relevant field and/or equivalent experience
- Ability to quickly assimilate new information or areas of work and come to an understanding of unfamiliar and complex concepts and environments
- A thorough understanding of public policy and the machinery of government, with a demonstrated knowledge of political administrative processes and structures
- Analytical and enquiring mindset, with a willingness to ask probing questions to understand the underlying information
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills
- A demonstrated commitment to the provision of quality services and delivery of results.
