Wellington City, New Zealand New Zealand Government Full time

**Type**: Permanent Hours: Full time Location: Wellington Group: Policy Branch: Regulation and Policy Salary: $96,135 - $128,652
Senior policy analyst roles for an evolving digital world
Are you interested in shaping policies that make New Zealand a safer place and strengthen our democracy? What about policy work that has impact and will make a real difference across our physical and digital worlds?
We need senior policy analysts to join three of our teams working to make our experiences safer, empower New Zealanders and promote our democratic values and freedoms.
We have Senior Policy Analyst positions available in the following teams:

- Media Content and Online Safety policy - shaping policies that protect and empower New Zealanders in the digital age. The team is reviewing the way we regulate media and online content from newspapers to social media. At the end of the process, we will recommend and ultimately implement long-lasting changes that will make us safer in global dynamic media and online environment. The project includes extensive research, regulatory design, stakeholder and international engagement and legislation development.
- Digital policy - The team is currently working on delivering secondary legislation for the Digital Identity Services Trust Framework. We also work alongside colleagues in the Digital Public Service branch to understand broader issues in the digital space and provide advice to the Minister for the Digital Economy and Communications. The team also provides policy support to the Government Chief Digital Officer who has responsibility for leading government uptake of, and capability for, digital technology.
- Community Wellbeing policy - supporting communities with practical changes to the Charities Act and related regulations for a thriving community and voluntary sector. As part of this team, you can also work closely with Fire and Emergency to ensure sustainable funding for the critical services they provide.

As a Senior Policy Analyst at Te Tari Taiwhenua you will lead, deliver, and support evidence-based advice for ministers and senior leaders in the public service.
You will need a relevant degree that demonstrates your critical thinking training, several years' experience as an analyst or senior analyst, giving you a diverse experience base to draw on. You will have honed your communication style to work for busy ministers and senior leaders.
You will enjoy supporting analysts to navigate policy processes so that they are successful. You are ready to share your experiences as a mentor for more junior members of the team.
You may have some experience in legislative processes, this will be an advantage. You'll have a curious mindset that is motivated by solving problems and you're committed to continuous learning.
Community and stakeholder engagement is a big part of what we do. You will need to be comfortable leading relationships with community, industry and international stakeholders.
Tō Tātou Rohe | Our Place, what we offer you
The opportunity to grow a strong base of policy processes and analytical skills.
A supportive, flexible and development focused culture. The Group offers formal training, mentoring and we will ensure you get a range of experiences in your work.
