At LIC, we're proudly NZ's leading Agri-tech and dairy herd improvement cooperative. We've been improving the dairy industry for over 100 years with our innovative farming solutions. Today we provide industry-leading genetics and technology products, empowering dairy farmers to create more sustainable and profitable farms.

**About the role**

We have an exciting opportunity for a Scientist in Epidemiology to join our innovative team. The role is part of a wider Research and Development team, who are working in the areas of genetics, genomics, breeding scheme design, animal welfare, methane reduction, machine learning, and pasture measurement from satellites.

The role will support both existing and new initiatives, including
- Utilising LIC's animal health data, investigate and analyse disease metrics in NZ and create advanced reporting options that better inform vets and farmers for disease management on farm.
- Performing statistical analysis/modelling utilising combined diagnostic and animal (MINDA) data to collate and analyse the impact of disease on farm (production, emissions, welfare).
- Advice to the R & D animal health team with statistical methodologies for trial design and data analysis to ensure outcomes are robust and decisions are well informed.
- Connecting with NZ vet, government and other animal health stakeholders to identify how best to utilise LIC's animal health data.

**About you**
- A relevant tertiary qualification (vet degree with post grad qualification in epidemiology preferred)
- Experience in utilising diagnostics data plus industry experience in disease monitoring and control, preferably in ruminants.
- Data handling and statistical analysis/modelling experience with emphasis on test validation and field trial data.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills for working with diverse groups

Experience leading a small team or research projects would be an advantage. You will need to be organised and enjoy working across a range of research and business areas.

**In return**

In addition to a competitive salary, you'll receive some great benefits including:

- Extra leave days
- Flexible working options
- Discounted health, life, income and disability insurances
- Access to our employee shares scheme
- Wellbeing discounts
- Free onsite parking
- Our Hamilton office is located in a park-like setting, with tennis court, pool, and onsite café and bar

Based 10 minutes from Hamilton, in a semi-rural location, the role provides the opportunity for a lifestyle change for those seeking a better work -life balance and wanting to escape the 'rat race' and cost of living in bigger cities.
