**1. GENERAL**
The Division of Health, Science, Computing and Engineering undertakes teaching and research in a range

of core disciplines grouped under four academic schools. The Division also has several research units and

commercial/equipment units.

The School of Computing and Mathematical Sciences comprises a number of Academic Programmes

including, Mathematics, Statistics/Data Analytics, Computer Science, Software Engineering and Design.

The School offers a range of qualifications at undergraduate, post-graduate and professional training levels,

which are delivered at the campuses in Hamilton, Tauranga and online. Our research activities are based

around seven internationally-renowned research laboratories of which CROW (Cybersecurity Researchers

of Waikato) is one. CROW lab’s research spans various aspects of cyber security such as malware analysis,

provenance, security configuration management etc. A key focus of the lab currently is Human Centric

Security.

**2. POSITION PURPOSE**

The Research Fellow is a postdoctoral academic appointment resourced by the Catalyst Funded project,

Artificial Intelligence for Human-Centric Security. The Fellow will have a strong interest in the area of Cyber

Security and Artificial Intelligence, be expected to participate in applicable duties within the School and

potentially contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching where appropriate. The Fellow will work

under the supervision of one or more senior mentors.

**3. ACCOUNTABILITY**

The Research Fellow is responsible to the Principal Investigator of the Artificial Intelligence for Human
- Centric Security project.

**5. KEY TASKS**

Having regard to the aims and objectives and the long-term strategic goals of the School/Faculty, the

Division and the University the primary objectives of the Research Fellow include:
Conduct high quality research related to the Artificial Intelligence for Human-Centric Security research

project and contribute to knowledge development through scholarship, publication and conference and

public presentations.Follow and fulfil the requirements of the Artificial Intelligence for Human-Centric Security research

project.Participate as a new scholar in the School of Computing and Mathematical Sciences.
- Engage and collaborate with our New Zealand and Australian partner institutions in the project.
- Engage and collaborate with industry partners and end-users.
- Collaborate with academic colleagues and relevant stakeholders.
- Contribute to teaching in undergraduate and postgraduate programmes as a guest lecturer where

appropriate.
- Be readily available to advise and meet with students.
- Participate in the maintenance of a safe and healthy work environment for self and others including

students. Comply with and undertake responsibilities set out in the University’s Health and Safety Policy.

Any other duties as required that are consistent with the position held, other than in exceptional circumstances

such as rehabilitation after injury or sickness.

**NOTE**:Staff have annual objectives, development and reflection (ODR) meetings with their manager. New staff

normally attend such a meeting approximately three months after taking up their appointment.

**6. PERFORMANCE STANDARDS**

The Research Fellow will be performing satisfactorily when:
Research is carried out as planned, and project milestones are achieved.

stakeholders as arranged.
