**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**
This study will build a pathway towards elimination of TB for Māori, create opportunity for accelerated hauora gain using the WHIRI model of care for individuals, their household and wider whānau, and build human capacity to lead a future elimination strategy. Developed with a kaupapa lens, for Māori by Māori, WHIRI is a critical service in mitigating unmet needs for Māori and Pacific patients who receive care from a health service. WHIRI focusses on the needs and goals of the whānau, centred on improving equity for Māori and other priority populations whilst being grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
- Key responsibilities of the role:
- Organised, passionate and driven individual with experience in research, excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently and within a team-
- Engage with TB patients and their whānau to conduct interviews and focus groups-
- Work with key informants at different levels of the TB system, including local level public health staff, and national level policy makers-
- This programme of work will embrace Mātauranga Māori and Te Ao Māori in order to be effective for our Māori communities and fulfil our Te Tiriti obligations**Click here** to view the position description.**

- Skills and experience you’ll need to be considered for the role:
- Tertiary level qualification or equivalent work experience in a relevant area to Masters level or above-
- Demonstrated experience in conducting research interviews or surveys-
- Empathy, ability and confidence to engage people from a range of backgrounds.-
- Understanding of Tikanga Māori, Te Ao Māori and Mātauranga Māori and the ability to engage appropriately in Māori settings-
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) and engagement with Māori whānau**Mō tātou Ratonga | About our Service**
