**About the Team**:
The Regulatory Practice team develops and maintains Maritime NZ's operational practice materials and aims to ensure best regulatory practice guidance is available and accessible. The Team's work includes:

- the development of tactical and operational aspects of practice for the Regulatory Operations Group
- the development of practice materials (procedures, tools/templates, business processes) consistent with, and delivering on, the Regulatory Operational Policy and Practice and Decision Making Frameworks
- supporting the implementation of new practice approaches (communications, training, coaching)
- providing thought leadership and best practice knowledge and experience to support effective and continuously improving regulatory operations delivery
- In addition, we will soon have new regulatory responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 (HSWA) to cover New Zealand's ports.

**What you'll do**:
As the Senior Advisor Regulatory Practice you'll be responsible for providing quality insights, leadership and advice on matters relating to regulatory practice. You'll contribute to the ongoing development and operation of Maritime NZ's Operational Policy and Practice Framework.
While leading or supporting the development and implementation of practice procedures, guidance and tools you'll identify where practice needs to be created or improved and feed that into the prioritised work programme.
You'll collaborate across all of MNZ and partner with SMEs to develop good quality and fit for purpose practice and ensure that procedures and practice adhere to operational policy and have strong implementation plans that consider both our internal and external stakeholders.

**What we're looking for**:

- Proven experience and knowledge of regulatory practice, including under HSWA
- Mentally agile, resilient, highly organised, with a high degree of business acumen
- Ability to manage and coordinate a high volume of work with strong attention to detail
- Effective written and oral communication skills with experience adapting working and communication styles appropriately for different audiences and channels
- Good analytical skills and ability to problem-solve in complex environments with experience of using these to create insights that drive process improvement
- Aptitude for fostering positive working relationships with people across all levels of an organisation with a collaborative working style
