Transpower is the commercially focused and regulated State-Owned Enterprise that owns and operates the National Grid. At the very heart of the energy sector, we transport electricity from where it is generated to large electricity users and the distribution companies who deliver it to homes and businesses nationwide.
To play an active role in decarbonising the economy and reducing emissions through accelerated electrification, we continue to improve, accelerate, and scale as we look towards rapidly growing demand for clean energy, new technology, more complex power flows, and changing customer and consumer expectations.
About the team
Our Grid Pricing team is responsible for delivering pricing for transmission services ensuring consistency with the various regulatory and other governance frameworks that affect our business. The team deliver the function that determines how Transpower's costs as owner and operator of the National Grid (~$1B p/a) are recovered from our customers. This includes implementing the Electricity Authority's Transmission Pricing Methodology (TPM) as well as pricing under investment contract agreements.
About the opportunity
As Senior Regulatory Advisor - Grid Pricing, you will be key to delivering pricing-related stakeholder engagement and regulatory policy processes. You will enjoy working autonomously within a highly responsive and supportive team, which is held in high regard across a range of business functions and will draw upon your expertise and collaborate with you. You will have exposure to Transpower's Executive team and will provide intellectual leadership on engagement and regulatory matters both within your team and throughout the organisation.

**In the coming 18 months you will**:

- Work at the heart of the electricity industry, and deepen your electricity regulatory knowledge and experience
- Embed Transpower's delivery of the new TPM through principled transparent engagement processes
- Support our Pricing Manager to operationalise the TPM, and investment contract pricing through engagement and regulatory policy practices
- Work in partnership with our Corporate Communications and take ownership of Grid Pricing's public-facing communications
- Become immersed in the team's hard-earned cross-industry and internal reputation for consistently delivering high-quality consultations, decisions, and other documents

What will you bring?
To be considered, you'll hold a relevant tertiary qualification (e.g., Law, Economics, Finance, Public Policy, Communication Science, Engineering, or another related discipline), with a minimum of five years' experience and have astute relationship management ability.

- Experience delivering a programme of high-quality, transparent, and principled consultation and engagement (you may wish to share links to your work or work samples)
- You have navigated the complexity and technical detail of legally binding regulation
- Ability to balance detail and make robust decisions with a strategic "all of organisation" perspective
- Proven ability to surface, conceptualise, frame, and work on key issues at pace and with agility and a focus on delivery - short, medium, and long term
