Te Pātaka Whaioranga | Pharmac is the Crown Entity that enables access to medicines, medical devices, and vaccines for New Zealanders. Acknowledging Te Mana o Te Tiriti o Waitangi, they strive to improve equitable health outcomes through their mahi on behalf of Aotearoa New Zealand.
The recently established Equity and Engagement Directorate is responsible for developing and implementing the strategies that will ensure Pharmac is able to deliver on the equity and engagement expectations of the health and disability system reforms (Pae Ora), with a dedicated focus on outcomes for Māori, Pacific and people with disabilities.
**Mō tēnei tūranga | About the Role**
As the Director of Equity and Engagement, working closely with the Māori Directorate, you will:
- Lead the development and implementation of the organisational strategies to ensure that decisions Pharmac make, contributes to equity of health outcomes.
- Inspire the Equity and Engagement Directorate, and wider Pharmac teams towards embedding the sustainable consideration of equity in all that they do.
- Hold accountability for Pharmac’s external relations and communications approach
- Lead engagement across the wider health and disability sector and with other key stakeholders.
- Contribute as a member of the Senior Leadership Team to organisational leadership, performance and success.

To be successful in this role, you will need to bring with you:
- Proven success in leading transformational changes with teams, organisations and across agencies through the development and implementation of strategy.
- Evidence of a commitment to upholding te Tiriti o Waitangi through leadership, strategic development with a particular focus on equity.
- Strong engagement and communication capability with proven experience and success in building productive and trusting inter-agency relationships.
- Political savviness
Other desirable, but not essential capabilities include an understanding of the health sector, the Pae Ora Act and the context in which Pharmac operates.

This is an exciting senior leadership opportunity for someone who has a passion for equitable health outcomes for New Zealanders. This role will enable a visionary leader to influence Pharmac’s delivery of enhanced engagement and equity expectations of Pae Ora.
