The purpose of this role is to lead the Systems Strategy and Advocacy Team to produce and support key strategy, policy and advocacy documents guiding the development of Auckland's overall transport system.

**This potentially includes**:

- Leading development of Auckland Transport system strategy
- Input to the Tamaki Makaurau Joint Transport Plan or Auckland Transport Alignment Project
- Development of the Regional Land Transport Plan
- Oversight of Programme Business Case development for system-wide programmes
- Producing the transport systems indicators framework
- Policy advocacy and leading or coordinating submissions to central government and other partners

**Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity**

Specific work will include:

- Managing the System Strategy and Advocacy Team
- Producing or coordinating submissions on proposed legislation and other changes on behalf of AT
- Managing key governance processes, including ensuring appropriate delivery of advice to Board and Council committees
- Representing the Transport Systems Strategy and Policy Group on internal and external working groups
- Technical work developing the plans and strategies themselves
- Input to internal business planning processes to help ensure AT actions align with strategy
- Support for stewardship of the Regional Transport committee

**We are ideally looking for someone who**:

- ** can take a strategic view, providing decision makers with high quality advice describing the links between transport interventions and the results sought by Council and government**:

- **can lead teams to produce best practice strategies and plans that will guide the sector in developing Auckland's transport system over the long-term**:

- **communicates well in all mediums and is able to present a compelling case to decision makers and executive leaders**:

- understands the machinery of both local and central government and can navigate complex governance and approval processes
- ** is well organised and can manage complex processes and contractors, but is able to adapt to a variety of tasks across the three-year planning cycle**:
