**The Opportunity**:
This position is full-time, Monday to Friday, and is based out West. You will be offering services for Wahine and Tamariki requesting safety support who are experiencing or have experienced whānau violence with appropriate safety planning. You must have a full license as you will be required to drive around.

**As a Advocacy Support Worker, some of your key areas of responsibility will include**:

- Providing support, advocacy, and referral to service, from a senior level, for wahine and their whānau who access service within the Refuge’s service area
- Establish and maintain positive working relationships by ensuring mutual trust, privacy, and confidentiality
- Support tangata whaiora by way of transport to attend programmes and appointments when necessary and available
- To effectively assess the situation using identified and appropriate methods of safe social work when working with all whānau
- Case notes are detailed and whānau plans are entered into the system and progress is monitored.
- Ensure women and children have food, clothing, finances, and legal support offered and arranged, when necessary, through approved means

**To be successful in this role**:

- A social worker qualification or 2+ years experience in a social service agency working with vulnerable whanau
- Experience working with whānau, hapū and Iwi
- Clear professional boundaries and a non-judgmental manner
- Ability to multi-task and deal with competing priorities
- Effective communication written and verbal
- Have experience working in the community or within a social services setting supporting Māori and Pasifika whānau
- Must have a full driver's license as you will need to drive around
