As **Principal Transport Modeller, **you will be responsible for developing and maintaining travel demand and detailed traffic models for the Auckland region. The role involves delivering multi-modal modelling advice to meet the planning, operational, and infrastructure delivery needs of the Auckland Forecasting Centre's partners, namely Auckland Council, NZ Transport Agency, and Auckland Transport.

**Te Whiwhinga mahi - The Opportunity**
- Provide advanced technical advice for and undertake transport demand and network modelling in response to modelling requests from AFC Partners to ensure that Auckland's operational plans and project delivery plans are based on high-quality, reliable transport modelling information.
- Establish, develop and maintain appropriate transport demand, traffic and associated planning models and databases to support AFC modelling requirements.
- Undertake related transport-related monitoring and research as required.
- Provide modelling information and services to support:

- Development of network and corridor plans and policies;
- Transport network operations and asset management;
- PT service designs and systems;
- Traffic infrastructure planning and implementation;
- Evaluating development proposals, ITAs and Auckland Plan changes.
- Provide advice for specifying and interpreting modelling results to various stakeholders.
- Ensure that land use, economic, and other data inputs to the traffic models are current and maintained.

**Ko koe tēnei | About you**
- Preferably a tertiary qualification in transport planning or traffic engineering or engineering science (or related discipline).
- Experience in GIS, FME, and database advantageous.
- Working in a team environment
- Excellent understanding and knowledge of transport planning, systems, and urban planning policies.
- Understanding of the statutory and policy framework for the planning and funding of transport in New Zealand, e.g. LTMA, RMA, LGA, and local government legislation practices and constraints.
