Kōrero mō te Tūranga - About the Role
The Animal Welfare Sector Liaison team sits within the Animal Health and Welfare Directorate, Agriculture & Investment Services.
This position requires you to actively participate in project work and input into the development of education resources to improve animal welfare regulatory awareness. The team works closely with organisations across the primary industry and other animal welfare agencies. You will be required to have a strong understanding of the Animal Welfare Act (1999), the Care and Procedure Regulations and the codes of welfare with the ability to communicate these requirements accurately and simply.
Animal welfare issues are complex, with scientific, ethical, economic, political and social dimensions and it is necessary to be sensitive to all views of interested parties when undertaking this work.

Mōu - About You
We are looking for a suitably qualified person to join our team of dedicated high performers working to improve awareness and voluntary compliance with animal welfare standards and legislation.

**You will have**:

- Qualifications in animal welfare and in event management
- Recent experience in New Zealand farming
- Solid knowledge of the New Zealand regulatory environment, Animal Welfare Act 1999, regulations and codes of welfare.
- Experience in managing relationships and engagement with an assortment of external stakeholders.
- Experience in leading collaborative working groups to develop animal welfare resources
- Excellent written and oral communication with the ability to research and develop education resources and tools to assist representatives of the supply chain undertake their animal welfare responsibilities.

Due to the specific responsibilities of this role a strong evidence of events management experience, together with a current understanding of NZ farm practices is essential to this role.
