Waikato, New Zealand Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand Waikato Full time

**Clinical Psychologist - Adult Acute Inpatient and Rehabilitation Service**

**Mental Health and Addiction Services**

**20 hours per week**

**Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role**

We are seeking a suitably qualified Clinical Psychologist who is enthusiastic, culturally aware and motivated to work with adults who are inpatients.

We are seeking a strong and resilient clinician whom will be able to support both taangata whai ora and their whaanau during an admission; whilst also working alongside the clinical team with a focus on creating positive outcomes using a strong Te Ao Maaori lens, while delivering excellent care for those whom come into your care.

This position will involve working directly with taangata whaiora through a variety of assessments, psychological therapies and interventions. You will also be providing psychological input, support and training within your teams in a variety of roles including facilitator, supervisor, and expert clinician.

The position requires you to work in partnership with the multidisciplinary teams across the Henry Rongomau Bennett Centre, to provide psychological expertise, support clinical decision making, and to be actively involved in quality improvements. This position also requires working in partnership with the Kaitakawaenga to utilise the Te Ao Māori models of care, to provide the best outcomes for Māori.

Māori are significantly over represented across our service and you will need to have an understanding of the inequities for Māori in the health system and work together to achieve better outcomes. This role will be essential in creating partnerships with Māori across all levels including tāngata whai ora and whānau, Māori staff and the Kaitakawaenga team, and supporting our non
- Māori staff to work together in reducing inequity.

**Mō tō mātou rōpū - About our team**

It’s the perfect time to join our team. We have a brand new facility in the planning stages; take part in the development, then get to work in a state of the art purpose built facility, where we aim to be delivering a service which is culturally led and clinically underpinned. Be part of leading this change, alongside a great team of managers, clinical leaders and Maaori including our taangata whaiora and whaanau.

**Moū - About you**

A ‘you can do it’ attitude is vital in this fast paced and high activity environment. A ‘curiosity’ to enquire what will make a difference for an individual taangata whai ora and their whaanau, and a willingness to lead change to truly make a difference, are all essential skills you hold.

You will need to have sound skills in Clinical Psychology, and be able to demonstrate an ability to work in teams and complex systems.

You will need to be able to support the adult acute facility to become a more culturally led and clinically underpinned service.

**E pā ana ki a tatou - About us**

**Nau mai haere mai - Come join the team**

If you have the right skills, a Te Ao Māori perspective and knowledge, energy, enthusiasm and professional qualities to make changes in a team going forward, then we would like to hear from you
