The Opportunity

The main purpose of the Works & Compliance Manager is to support the separate laboratory departments in maintaining accreditation through the implementation of the policies outlined in the Laboratory Quality Management Manual (LQMM).

Manage the laboratory specifications and procedures to ensure all up to date information is available in both hard and soft copies. Manage the procurement of consumables, subcontractors, and service technicians for the business. Assist Lab Department Supervisors with the logistics and scheduling of works and technicians. Have an in depth understanding of the financial aspects of managing the laboratory departments.

You will be instrumental in maintaining and managing testing equipment through the completion of calibrations as they are due, both internal and external. Understand and be able to demonstrate all test procedures completed under the accreditation scope of the Laboratory Business to a KTP standard. Manage the training and development of all employees in the Laboratory Business in all departments.

On a day-to-day basis you’ll:

- Build strong working relations with staff, technical advisors, external agencies, and groups.
- Can communicate detailed technical information to others with varying technical abilities.
- Knowledge and understanding of all tests completed under the Laboratories Scopes of Works.
- Identifies opportunities and accepts responsibility for making things happen.
- Undertakes additional tasks, which are not formally part of the role.
- Uses influencing skills to gain customer support.
- Influence others to meet deadlines or productivity outputs.
- Identifies what needs to be done and takes personal responsibility for making things happen in the organisation.
- Takes responsibility for problem solving and has a positive and optimistic approach.
- Takes responsibility for what happens in own work areas and the decisions she/he makes.
- Works well with little or no supervision

Who we are looking for:

- Desirable to have relevant tertiary qualification however a Cert 5. in related industry certifications will be considered.
- Construction lab management / supervision experience ideally within an agency responsible for Asphalt, Binders, and or Aggregates including Field Testing.
- Current IANZ/KTP accreditation or ability to obtain one.
- Experience conducting Audits of ISO 9001 QMS’s.
- Proven experience of managing delivery of technical services in a commercial environment
- Prior experience managing the financial aspects of a laboratory or related business.
- Knowledge and understanding of all tests completed under the Laboratories Scope of Work.
- Excellent time management skills and be able to priortise, plan and organise tasks with ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
