**Job Description**:
**Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity**

As our Planning & Prioritisation Lead you will help drive the execution of Generation & Trading’s (G&T) ability to deliver on Contact’s strategy. You will deliver the key metrics and mitigate any operational road blocks that hinder G&T’s ability to deliver on the strategy, within the VUCA (Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity and Ambiguity) environment ahead. It will be your job to future proof and ensure scalability of G&T functions that are required to respond to the change environment ahead all whilst continuing to optimise our current business.

Essentially you will act as the gatekeeper for ensuring any changes considered, designed, and implemented are done so with right level of business involvement, ownership, and ultimate acceptance. You will also manage any fluctuate resource demands resulting from the approved change portfolio.

Your focus will be supporting the short-term delivery of our business outcomes, whilst providing support for the long term, sustainable management of our generation assets.

This leadership position sits within our Projects and Performance Team

Some of the key responsibilities are;
- Support, define and maintain a “blueprint” view of the G&T operating model.
- Track potential opportunities in a structured way that easily enables assessment, prioritisation, and planning.
- Design, lead, and manage a Generation & Trading (G&T) portfolio prioritisation framework.
- Establish portfolio governance and ensure that appropriate representation and processes are in place to manage the portfolio effectively.
- Identify and prioritise projects and initiatives within the portfolio to ensure that the portfolio delivers against the strategic and business objectives.
- Leverage horizon plans, supporting assessments and performance reporting to identify workforce impacts across G&T operational business, and proactively incorporate resource planning into horizon plans.
- Shape, plan, identify key interdependencies, progress check-ins and ensure the successful delivery of the approved G&T portfolio of changes.
- Manage performance and benefit realisation through tracking performance of G&T business and balancing results with realising benefits from improvements.
- Provide regular portfolio reporting that includes - benefits, cost, quality, risk and issue management.

**Qualifications**:

Ideally you will have extensive experience working in a portfolio or programme environment. You will have plenty of stories to share where you have helped businesses have clear visibility of all their activities. You’ll be a natural when it comes to the planning and prioritisation of these activities, establishing project portfolios and setting them up for success.

This role interacts with a wide range of stakeholders so it requires a lot of coordinating interdependencies. Your ability to communicate and influence across a complex group of stakeholders will be a key element in building trust to ensure we are working on the right things at the right time. Your ability to influence and motivate others to keep the projects on track sets you apart from the rest

You thrive in a fast paced, dynamic environment and are quick to adapt and lean in to support others when things don’t go to plan. Your curious nature means you are skilled at identifying problems and are quick to offer solutions. You will be a champion for continuous improvement and be a pro when it comes to maximising opportunities.

You will be famous for your ability to inspire and take people on a journey - even if it gets rocky from time to time.

If you have a relevant degree in engineering great, but it’s not a must have. If you have energy sector experience or been a part of a transformation office even better.
