Maintenance Lead
Tiakina te anamata, mā te tūhono i ngā tāngata me ngā wāhi o te inamata. Taking care of tomorrow: connecting people and place today.
Mercury is a bold future-focused organisation, providing energy and telecommunications to more Kiwi than anyone else, leading the way with renewable energy and working toward a sustainable future. At the heart is our purpose which pushes us to do all we can to create a better future for our people, our communities, and Aotearoa New Zealand.
**Our Opportunity**:
Due to internal promotion, we are looking for a Maintenance Lead for our Geothermal Central Region. This leadership role supports three of our five geothermal assets - Rotokawa, Ngā Awa Pūrua and Ngā Tamariki, all based close to Taupo and Rotorua, that power base-load. This means that they make power 24/7 ensuring a constant supply of power night and day to New Zealand.
Reporting to the Area Manager, you'll lead a team of five multi-disciplined direct reports (and up to 6 indirect reports) to ensure that the execution of our maintenance pre-planned work is completed to the highest standard. You'll be exposed to the wider business, including our Maintenance Execution team, to collaborate and ensure effective planning, delivery and completion of maintenance activities while also driving continuous improvement. Our sites operate in a unique new way of working where rather than individual station maintenance work, it's campaign based - rotating around the different power stations to ensure all available resources can work through maintenance activity quickly.
You'll join an industry that is constantly evolving and adapting for the future, which creates opportunities for you to grow as well. You'll work closely with other site leaders and have opportunity to influence business decisions, giving you the skills and experience that will create further opportunities within Mercury.
Mercury operates a flexible working environment and there is the opportunity for this role to take advantage of options like 9-day fortnights.
**Key responsibilities**:
- Maximise site maintenance effectiveness, assist in project delivery and manage and implement improvement plans
- Mentor the team on maintenance best practices and professional growth and development
- Manage maintenance costs to agreed and approved budgets and approve maintenance spend and associated purchase orders
**We are looking for**:
- Relevant industry experience leading a team of trade/technician staff
- Proven ability to inspire and lead a team to deliver results
- Plant operations, process control or maintenance experience in heavy industry
- Strong knowledge of Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) - Maximo
- Proficient in maintenance planning and scheduling
**Mercury offers (full benefits are listed on our Career Page)**:
- Additional 5 days leave per annum (MyDays)
- $400 one off tax-free payment towards setting up your home office
- A diverse workplace where your unique abilities and talents will be recognised and encouraged
- Annual salary reviews with excellent parental leave policy, with the option to purchase additional leave
- The opportunities, career paths and facilities associated with working for one of New Zealand's largest multi-utility providers
- Flexible working policy - The autonomy and trust to work flexibly from our purpose-built premises and from home, recognising the value of this flexibility in the modern world
- Discounted health insurance and free life and income insurance
- Excellent well-being programme including up to $100 annual check ups and confidential assistance programme
- Gender affirmation leave and supportive bereavement leave to be taken when you lose anyone close to you, including your pet
Mercury is a learning organisation that is committed to providing you with opportunities to grow and develop that will benefit you now and in the future. Part of your role includes building your skillset and mindset through a variety of ways. We believe this creates an energised, innovative and agile work environment where you will feel valued.
