Transpower is the commercially focused and regulated State-Owned Enterprise that owns and operates the National Grid. At the very heart of the energy sector, we transport electricity from where it is generated to large electricity users and the distribution companies who deliver it to homes and businesses nationwide.

**About the team**

Through the wider architecture team, the ICT Enterprise and Domain architectures are developed, maintained and brought to life through key roadmaps, standards, policies, and functional/concept architecture. Alignment of the roadmaps and architectures to the ICT Strategy are ensured through appropriate involvement in governance bodies.

The team supports the ICT Investment Planning by providing inputs to the ICT investment cases and investment framework. Utilising the above, the extended team further develops required regulatory submissions and updates.

**About the opportunity**

You'll play a key role as part of our IST Senior Leadership Team, and be responsible for developing and driving the implementation and maintaining the overarching ICT Strategy for Transpower. As Head of Digital Strategy, you will be an ambassador liaising with all parts of the business to develop, maintain and ensure the ICT Strategy is fully aligned with Transpower's strategic priorities.

This position is responsible for leading a high performing team of Principal Architects and establishing the wider community of practice for all architects. The community of practice will enable collaboration on the development of architecture reference material and lifecycle planning which supports and facilitates strategically aligned technology project delivery.

You will lead and ensure Transpower is across current and emerging digital trends, good practices and thought leadership to inform the ICT and business strategies. You will own architectural and technical governance, enabling effective governance across enterprise and solution level architecture by ensuring that both the architecture and assessment criteria used to assess it are fit-for-purpose; and decisions, technical debt and exemptions/exceptions are all visible, accessible and accurately recorded.

**About you**

With a relevant post graduate qualification as well as ICT certification in architecture frameworks e.g. TOGAF, you will have significant experience working in technology or business architecture roles for national or international organisations.

You will have demonstrable experience preparing and presenting enterprise roadmaps, frameworks and/or other related artefacts, as well as planning which includes the ability to define project scope, specification and time/effort.

As an effective communicator, you will be experienced working directly with senior stakeholders at Enterprise Executive Leadership team and Tier 3/Peer manager level. Your wider experience, skills and knowledge will include:

- 15+ years working in technology or business architecture roles for national or international organisations.
- 5+ years managing architects to deliver in either an organisational or programme-based role.
- 5+ years working in an advisory or consultancy role for business and/or technology.
- Deep knowledge and experience providing options or evaluation of technology (hardware, software, services).
- Demonstrated awareness of technology design and delivery frameworks such as TOGAF, ITIL, Agile, NZISM / ASD.
- Demonstrated prior experience and knowledge of technology across:

- Infrastructure and public cloud
- Telecommunications and network
- Data, information and analytics
- End user or workplace technologies
- IT modernisation or business transformation

Whilst not essential, a general understanding of the nature and design of the electricity industry's core business processes is desirable.
