About the role

The Team Leader is a member of the EDDU Management Team.
What we’re looking for
- Demonstrated experience in a leadership role
- Experience as an operational dog handler and understanding of their overall care and management
- Capability in understanding detector dog training principles along with the ability to monitor requirements instigated by the National Standards and Training Manager
- Understanding of aviation security passenger screening, baggage and cargo processes, systems and technology
- High levels of IT literacy, with a proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook of particular importance
- Proven skills in operating in a change environment.

About us
As a safety regulator and security provider, the Civil Aviation Authority exists to enable safe flight for social connections, and economic benefit for New Zealand. We believe in keeping people safe and secure in the air, enabling participation in the aviation system, and making a difference to New Zealand aviation. We achieve this through regulatory oversight of the aviation industry and frontline security at our airports.
The Authority embraces diversity and is committed to providing an inclusive environment where our people feel respected, safe, and valued for their unique contribution.
The foundation for achieving this is our values, which guide how we work and the behaviours we expect from each other.
- Me mahi tahi - Collaboration
- Me mahi pono - Transparency
- Me mahi tika - Integrity
- Me manaaki - Respect
- Kia tū rangatira ai - Professionalism We act in a way that brings credit to ourselves and our organisation.

Why join us?
We invest in our people by supporting development within the organisation. To support the health and wellbeing of our employees we run well-being workshops, offer flu vaccinations and contributions towards eyewear.
We offer 5 weeks of annual leave and can match your Kiwi Saver contribution up to 4%.
The Authority strongly encourages and supports all our people to be vaccinated and boosted against COVID-19. However our current policy position is that vaccination is not a requirement for employment in this role. Please note that the Authority may, if needed, introduce a vaccination requirement for managing an epidemic.
