At Te Tāhū o te Ture - the Ministry of Justice, we're committed to working together for a fair and safe Aotearoa.

Te Tari Toko i te Tumu Whakawā | The Office of the Chief Justice (Te Tari) supports the Chief Justice, President of the Court of Appeal, Chief Judge of the High Court, and other Heads of Bench in their leadership and administrative responsibilities to enable the judiciary to function as an independent branch of government.

The judiciary as an institution, and the Chief Justice and Heads of Bench as its leaders, have a unique responsibility to maintain the public's trust and confidence in the courts and the principles underpinning the justice system.

The Governance, Strategy and Advisory team supports the Chief Justice and Heads of Bench to fulfil this responsibility by providing governance support, strategic advice and high-quality analysis and advisory services in respect of operational, strategic, policy and legal issues. Our key strands of work are (but not limited to):

- Implementing a more established and considered governance framework for the judicial arm of government.
- Providing advice, recommendations and support to the Chief Justice and Heads of Bench as leaders of the judicial branch of government, and to the wider judiciary as required
