**He angitūtanga: The opportunity**

This role will be working as part of a team of enthusiastic and dedicated park rangers in our Western Regional Parks network.

You will be responsible for:

- Assisting with farming operations
- Managing and supporting volunteers and external stakeholders
- Overseeing and auditing contractors.
- General Park maintenance
- Historic site protection programmes
- Visitor liaison duties such as campgrounds and visitor arrival areas
- Supporting the wider ranger team
- Overseeing and conducting recreational asset maintenance and inspections.

**He kōrero mōu: About you**

To be successful in this role you’ll have a passion for the natural environment and connecting people with nature. You will be a strong communicator and thrive on being able to plan and prioritise your own workday while still being an integral part of a tight-knit team.

The successful person in this role will:

- Have experience in farming operations and the ability to assist with the day to day running of the regional park farm space is preferred.
- Have a passion for working with volunteers, iwi, community groups and park visitors.
- Have a 'can do' positive attitude.
- Have sound practical experience and the ability to conduct minor repairs.
- Be proactive, approachable, and motivated.
- A current NZ full driver's licence (be able to drive a manual vehicle) is required for this position.

This role requires working on a roster system, being available for weekends and public holidays.

While based across the entire western sector this position will have a focus in the Te Rau Puriri (South Head) and Muriwai Regional Parks.
