The Digital and Insights team manage social media, web, intranet, our consultations tool and CRM. We work closely together in an Agile way, to connect our work and better support the Ministry. Our culture is collaborative, creative and fun.
Mō te tūranga mahi | About the role
Our mission in the Digital & Insights team is to deliver accessible, audience-led content to inform New Zealanders about our work programmes, help our partners and stakeholders engage with the Ministry on environmental policy and ensure that those who need to can access implementation guidance and policies.
To achieve this, we manage the Ministry's digital platforms, including our public-facing websites, the intranet, social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and Twitter), the Ministry's online consultation tool Citizen Space, and our Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tool Salesforce.
As the CRM Business Lead you will provide mentoring and support to the Ministry's Mangers to drive adoption of the CRM and lead engagement with our external vendors and suppliers in collaboration with the IT team.
The CRM Business Lead will lead in the development of strategies and plans to ensure the CRM is delivering value as part of our overall strategic framework as well as MfE's Digital Strategy. The role will manage third party suppliers to monitor their service measures, maintain a positive and collaborative working relationship with IT, the Engagement Hub and other engagement teams across the business, and partner with internal customers to achieve business outcomes and find solutions that meet their needs.
The role will be instrumental in influencing behaviour change to embed CRM into business-as-usual processes. You will have experience in successful implementation of CRM projects, drive innovation and continual service delivery improvement.

- Experience with successful implementation and/or management of a CRM for a medium-to-large organisation
- A demonstratable dedication to customer service and experience managing service delivery within a changing and highly complex organisation
- Able to understand highly complex internal customer needs, challenges and issues from their perspective
- Experience in vendor management, including managing external delivery partners
- Understanding of Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and how to manage these
- Experience with negotiating contracts with vendors for support services and obtaining value through contract management
- Experience in stakeholder management and external engagement best practice
- Skilful communicator and negotiator with the ability to influence action in areas outside of direct control and operate in a changing environment
- A high-level understanding of the technology used as part of the Ministry's environment and how the CRM sits alongside other technology
- Excellent documentation and project management skills
- Experience working in a complex technical and challenging environmen
- Significant experience in a CRM role with experience using Salesforce
- Experience successfully managing and maintaining customer relationships
- Experience in vendor management, including managing external delivery partner
- Project and/or business/IT consulting/ experience
- Experience in public sector security certification and IT procurement practices
- Ideally, Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business or a related field, or equivalent work experience

Whānuitanga Utu ā-Tau | Salary range
Salary range for this role is $$114,872 to $139,510 pa. Appointment within this range will be based on skills and experience.
