We have an exciting opportunity within the practice group of Te Kounga o te Mahi me ngā Wheako (Quality Practice and Experiences).
The Manager Practice Design and Policy is a newly established leadership role, supporting the organisation in the design of our practice approach and the deliverables needed to achieve it. Supported within a strong leadership collective across the three practice teams, this position will lead highly skilled teams who will deliver on an ambitious work programme.
The Manager will be responsible for leading practice design, including how we reimagine the development of practice policies, guidance and tools. The teams will be focused by a shared practice design methodology to ensure all development is in line with our practice framework and will meet the vision of the Oranga Tamariki practice approach.

About Te Kounga o Te Mahi (Quality Practice and Experiences)
Te Kounga o Te Mahi are responsible for driving practice design, quality and improvement, drawing on insights, to change the way Oranga Tamariki delivers to its Service Delivery kaimahi (workforce). The role and functions of the Practice teams within Te Kounga o Te Mahi are to support and enhance the quality of professional practice that is framed in Te Tiriti o Waitangi and drawn from Te Ao Māori principles of oranga through the provision of practice-related advice, the design and enhancement of practice frameworks, models and tools, contributing to the design of major new areas of practice and ensuring the organisational system is supporting our practice approach.

Mō te tūnga | About the role
Reporting to the General Manager Māori Practice, the Manager Practice Design and Policy will be responsible for leading the work programme for the design of practice systems and the deliverables needed to achieve it including tools, frameworks, guidance and operational policy, ensuring that the work programme activities are fit for purpose. A significant and primary focus of this role will be creating and nurturing a design culture that preferences Te Ao Māori principles and bodies of knowledge that are consistent with the principles of the Oranga Tamariki Act.
Utilising your unique skills and experience, you will work collaboratively to enhance the quality of design and thought leadership throughout the design of new projects and initiatives.

Mōu | About you
Promoting a collaborative approach, you will lead a range of projects and initiatives aligned to our strategic intentions and Future Direction, our commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the obligations that arise from section 7AA of the Oranga Tamariki Act that will deliver on our practice approach.
You will whakamana and champion the rights of tamariki and whānau within the Oranga Tamariki system, focused on the practice design approach that will assist us to realise our key strategic deliverables.

**Key requirements of the role include**:

- Significant experience in the development and design of professional practice frameworks.
- Experience of implementing new legislation or national policy initiatives.
- Recognised commitment to te Ao Māori and the promotion of te reo me ōna tikanga Māori.
- A relevant tertiary qualification in social work is required, alongside either current registration with the Social Work Registration Board or the ability to become registered.
- Demonstrated experience in programme management, including the ability to manage and prioritise competing demands.
- Being a conceptual thinker who can translate the aspirations of tamariki and whānau into practice design and delivery.
- Proven ability to engage and manage stakeholder relationships.
- Ability to use clear and professional written and verbal communication.
- A pragmatic and solutions focused approach to providing sound advice to leadership
