Kōrero mō te Tūranga - About the Role
As an Animal Welfare Inspector, you will deliver a range of work to ensure animal welfare complaints are managed appropriately and effective compliance and enforcement services are delivered. This includes:

- ensuring investigation processes and procedures are followed
- managing animal welfare complaints in relation to livestock
- responding to and managing animal welfare complaints
- monitoring service providers and licensed establishments for compliance with animal welfare legislative requirements
- preparing prosecution files where serious noncompliance has been identified
- working with other Animal Welfare Inspectors and Investigators
- promoting good animal welfare practices

Mōu - About You
The role is an enforcement role, requiring maturity and resilience but can provide real satisfaction within a supportive and inclusive workforce. For this role, you will need:

- proven experience in working with livestock, animal husbandry or veterinary services
- knowledge of farming organisations and external animal welfare agencies
- practical working knowledge of the laws under which investigations and compliance activities operate is desirable including: Animal Welfare Act, NAIT Act, Privacy Act, NZ Bill of Rights Act, Evidence Act, Criminal Disclosure Act, Criminal Procedures Act, Search and Surveillance Act
- a relevant tertiary qualification and/or experience in animal husbandry
- Tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent regulatory, compliance and enforcement experience would be an advantage
- ability to obtain a NZ Firearms license.

- is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last five (5) years: either Australia, Canada, NZ, the United Kingdom (UK) or the United States of America (USA); and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the NZ Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at this level.
